Testing on Saturday saw only one driver, Clint McMahan, make laps with it raining most of the day.  And Clint encountered drama yet again over the course of the test day with an off destroying the nose which he replaced and then a bolt in his LF suspension coming loose and then later a wheel bearing seizing resulting in very few laps and frustration.

Testing on a dry, clear Sunday saw Calvin Stewart come out for testing and he went off in the first morning session.  Clint, however, had a good test session with his fastest time of 2:24.363 (track record is 2:20.8) and top speed of 135.143 mph.  Since this is a long high speed road course, top speed is very important.  For the second session, Clint improved his lap time, a 2:21.582, with a top speed of 136.594 mph.  Calvin followed closely behind with his best time 2:23.482 with a higher top speed of 138.183 mph.  In the third session, Clint slowed down due to very heavy traffic with his best time of 2:25.046 and a top speed of 133.816 mph.  Calvin unfortunately went off on his first lap again.  For the last session, again in heavy traffic, the pair of Clint McMahan and Calvin Stewart were able to get some good
laps in and it was close.  Clint got the slightly faster lap of 2:22.316 to Calvin’s 2:23.812 but Calvin had the faster top speed of 138.763 mph to Clint’s 132.945 mph.
The last day of testing on Monday was also clear, with less traffic and more F6 drivers taking laps.  In the first session, Clint again was on top of the leader board with a time of 2:22.873 and top speed of 139.525 mph.  Calvin again went off and did not make a lap.  Jack Walbran was next in the 2:35’s, followed by Eric McRee, Cory McLeod, Jason Martin and Jeff DeLong.  In the second session, Clint, Calvin and Eric were in the fastest group with Clint taking the fastest lap of 2:23.737 but Eric taking the fastest top speed of142.939 mph. Further down, the rest were in a close pack of Jack, Cory, Jason
and Jeff in that order.  In the third and final test session, Clint, Calvin and Eric took the top three spots with Clint’s fastest lap of 2:22.727 and top speed of 142.441 mph.  The remaining group was further down in the following order – Jason, Jeff, Jack and Cory.
Qualifying starts tomorrow morning at about 10 am CDT and will be on audio at SCCA.com .
